Surf & Stream Campground Review

This year I decided to bring our camper back from our seasonal spot so that we could go on a family weekend during teachers convention.  I made arrangements to take the camper to Surf and Stream Campground in Toms River, NJ.  Based on pictures we thought that this would be a great place to go.

Upon entering the grounds we proceeded to sit and wait at the gate for someone to come and escort us in to our site.  Once someone showed up we were brought through the campground and shown where the connections for the camper were located.

During our stay we took a walk.  We are used to camping in Ft. Wilderness, Mays Landing Campground, and a few other places.  Our impression of a campground is very different from this campground.  Most campgrounds that are allowing “Transients” to come in have more of a temporary feel to them.  This campground looks, and feels like a “Trailer Park”.  Now we understand why most of the campgrounds in New Jersey only allow you to stay certain months, and a few in New Jersey have a year round system.

Once checked in and connected I had to go to the office to take care of the bill.  I was hit with a “Deposit” for a cable box that would be needed to watch tv.  I would get the money back in the end, but that just seems a bit ridiculous for a campground.  The pool was already closed, and there were no children around.  We ended up playing some board games, and just hanging out as a family.  The camper next to us had some guys that were up from the Carolinas that were still here doing Hurricane Sandy work.  They were nice guys, and very hospitable.  I am sure many of the people that stay there were nice, and hospitable.

I don’t think we will do much camping during the “Off Season” in New Jersey.  We thought that there would be more to do, and kids around for our daughter to hang out with.  With the place “Looking” like people lived there 364 days a year we also had to be cautious because you never know what you will find.

Titanic The Experience: Orlando

Last year we were out and about checking out some of the sights on International Drive when I noticed a Titanic sign.  Being such a interesting movie, and also being one of the most well known disasters I decided that we would have to check this out and learn some more about the Titanic.  After having dinner at Cici’s Pizza across the street we made our way to the building.  Side note…  I know it is Florida, and the weather is usually hot, but if you plan on going to the exhibit make sure you dress warm if you aren’t fond of the cold.

Upon purchasing tickets we were told that our stubs had the name of a person that was on the Titanic.  We were to be that passenger for the tour.  We were told no more.  The tour guide even dresses in era based outfits for authenticity.  Once you enter the exhibit you are taken through many different areas that are designed to make it look, and feel like you were there.  There were many artifacts on display from the era.  There were depictions of the radio room, a 1st class room, the boiler room, and many more.  One area had a place where you stood in what appeared to be the deck of the ship, and was also very cold as it was the night of the disaster.

At the very end of the tour you are brought to a wall showing the names of survivors, and those that past on.  I was a passenger that didn’t make it.

Titanic The Experience was well worth the money that was spent.  It allowed us to understand more of what happened that night onboard the Titanic.  It made me look at how things have changed in the “cruising” industry.  There was a dinner show also available, but we didn’t have enough time to take that in.  Prices weren’t very bad at @ $20 for an adult, and @ $15 for a child.

Seagate GoFlex Satellite Review

Recently I was given the opportunity to review the Seagate GoFlex Satellite.

How many times have you wanted to watch a movie, tv show, view pictures, or access almost anything, but didn’t have it stored on your laptop, IPad, IPhone, or some other sort of computing device?  With the GoFlex Satellite this problem can be behind you.

What is the GoFlex Satellite?  For the on the go individuals this is by far one of the best media sharing pieces of technology that has come out.  The GoFlex comes with a wall usb charger, usb cable, usb connector adapter, and the drive.  There is a built in battery so going totally cable free is possible.

We recently took a weekend trip down to our camper.  Being our work schedule has been a bit hairy we haven’t had much time to watch most of our tv shows.  I found a piece of software for my PC so that I could download tv shows.  I did my searches and found the tv shows that I wanted to watch.  The software downloaded the shows and all I had to do was drag and drop them onto the GoFlex.  When we got to the campground I connected my IPad to the GoFlex wifi connection and opened the GoFlex Access app.  For the next 2 hours we watched our tv shows and caught up.

This is not the only use that is possible.  The GoFlex can also be used as a storage device.  Also available for the GoFlex is the TV HD Media Player Device, and the Net Media Sharing Device.

The only thing that I didn’t like about the GoFlex Satellite is that at the time of review there is no way to have a connection to the GoFlex Satellite, and the internet.  This is the only feature that would be a big + in my opinion.

We were given a GoFlex Satellite to review.  In no respect has our review been influenced in exchange for the device.  As normal our review is our opinion about the item.

As with all of our reviews… We were sent a product in exchange for an honest review of the item.  In no way was our review influenced by receiving the product.

PS3 XTendPlay Adapter

Being a video gamer I am always looking for ways to make things a bit more comfortable.  Recently I was given the opportunity to test out the XTendPlay Ergonomic Adapter.  If you are a gamer then you know that a controller needs to work with you without major adjustments.  When I play FPS games I need my fingers to be in full synchronicity.  When I play casual board games, or slow paced games I can afford to be more flexible.  The XTendPlay Adapter worked for the casual games for me.  I tried playing Battlefield 3 for a few rounds with the adapter, and it seemed uncomfortable because of the squareness.

While I am not saying that this product is not well made I am stating that the product is best suited for those that play in a loose style, and are willing to make change.  The product is well made.  I will still use this for my family, and casual games.  Maybe in time I will grow to like it more for my FPS games.  The adapter fits all Playstation 3 controllers, and there is also an XBox version.  The adapter is made of a soft-touch, ultra-lightweight fleXlite™ foam.

Check out for their products.
